How to Plan the Perfect Courtyard New Orleans Intimate Wedding

September 29 2022 | News

Dreaming of a simple and romantic intimate New Orleans courtyard wedding? It doesn’t have to be complicated! Here is how one couple let go of the stress of a complicated big wedding and let the setting create the atmosphere for their perfect New Orleans intimate courtyard wedding.

The couple wanted a space in the Garden District where all their friends and family could stay under one roof for their micro wedding in New Orleans. They picked a New Orleans historic venue, Sully Mansion, and rented all 8 rooms for their guests to stay the night. Sully Mansion is a boutique inn in the heart of the Garden District and specializes in intimate courtyard weddings.

Jennifer spent the morning of her wedding getting ready with her bridal party in the St. Charles suite. Their courtyard wedding package included the Sully’s Getting Ready in the Garden District package. Hair and make-up teams set up early and the photographer was there to capture all the sweet moments. Every detail was taken care of and Sully Mansion provided breakfast for Jennifer and all overnight guests.

Simultaneously, Davis got ready upstairs in the Bourbon suite. This made it easier for the photogrpaher to get detail shots at the same time since they were at the same location. Planned perfectly with the two on separate floors, they didn’t see each other before their first look.

Jennifer and Davis chose the staircase and foyer as the backdrop for their first look moment where it was all smiles when they saw each other! Ahead of their intimate courtyard wedding ceremony, they took portraits throughout the property and family photos.

Davis entered the intimate courtyard wedding ceremony first. For his entrance, he chose to use the pergola space as his aisle leading up to their intimate ceremony.

Jennifer took a different route for her grand entrance to the micro wedding ceremony. She walked along the sidewalk and entered through the Sully’s front gate and walked down the aisle surrounded by their friends and family.

The more than a hundred-year-old oak trees provided a cozy backdrop for their New Orleans  intimate courtyard wedding ceremony on the front steps of Sully Mansion in the Garden District.

After the micro wedding ceremony, they moved back inside and went upstairs to sign the marriage license.

The newlyweds took a second to soak it all in. Jennifer and Davis shared a private toast before returning to the courtyard wedding!

Flipping tradition, they cut the cake in the living room right after the ceremony! Everyone then moved to the front porch to enjoy cocktail hour.

Their first dance as husband and wife took place shortly after on the front porch and under a canopy of greenery.

Their friends and family shared the special moment with them while watching from the courtyard.

From the courtyard, the wedding party moved to the pergola for the reception. Tucked under a canopy of wisteria and jasmine vines, the guests enjoyed the catered dinner under the lights.

The dancing continued throughout the intimate courtyard wedding reception as the couple shared their special family dances as the sun started to go down.

The couple ended the intimate courtyard wedding reception and hugged goodbye to their family under candlelight. However, this wasn’t the end of the night for their intimate New Orleans wedding.

In traditional New Orleans style, they headed off by pedal cab and met their friends at a local bar to continue the party of their micro wedding into the night.
